The Janine Williams Memorial Scholarship was created to honour the past Tropicana President Ashworth Williams’ daughter, Janine Williams, who passed away in 2007. Through this scholarship, her family looks to keep her memory and spirit alive by helping others as she did.

About Janine Williams

Janine Williams, the daughter of past Tropicana President Ashworth Williams, passed away in 2007 at the age of 24, due to lymphoma. Janine was a thoughtful, honest, and loyal person who possessed a wonderful sense of humour, a no-nonsense philosophy of life, and wisdom well beyond her years. Janine excelled both academically and socially. She was an accomplished ballerina, piano and cello player, and athlete. She was enrolled in the life sciences program at the University of Toronto when her studies were interrupted by her illness which she faced with courage, intelligence, resourcefulness, and most remarkably, compassion and caring for others. Janine had a passion for helping others and through this scholarship created by her family, we honour her memory by helping others. The Janine Williams memorial scholarship has been established to reward an individual who exhibits the characteristics demonstrated by Janine during her life.
