At U of T Mississauga, we are looking for an exceptional ServiceNow Architect to join our team. ServiceNow is one of the leading PaaS providers, and UTM uses it to create custom applications to enable the work of our departments, support our ITSM practices, manage our strategic portfolio and programs, and provide visibility into our I&O.

As a ServiceNow architect, you will be one of this system’s principal subject matter experts. The incumbent will make strategic recommendations about the ServiceNow module and product roadmaps and lead high-level development activity and architectural designs. The incumbent will be a technical lead; their primary focus will be application development for the platform, coordinating efforts of other teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment with the campus vision for ServiceNow as a transformational tool.

Duties and Responsibilities
The following illustrative tasks indicate the level of skill required, and the extent of responsibility involved in this position. They in no way limit the incumbent to the tasks indicated. The degree to which each employee performs each of the following tasks listed below will vary according to where and when the employee is scheduled to work.

a) Clean and dust furniture, floors, hallways, stairways, and ledges, using authorized and appropriate materials and equipment including heavy-duty electric buffers, automatic floor machines, large dust mops, vacuum cleaners, carpet cleaning equipment, and other cleaning equipment.
b) reconditions floors as required, including stripping, refinishing, scrubbing, spray buffing, buffing, sealing, and other related floor care duties.
c) regularly cleans washrooms, including sinks, walls and partitions, toilets, urinals, mirrors, floors, metal fixtures, plumbing fixtures, and faucets.
d) collects litter from floors and waste/compost from receptacles, empties into janitor cart, remove garbage/recycling from buildings, and deposits into waste bins or compactors.
e) cleans carpets as required; remove spots/stains from surfaces as required.
f) washes windows and walls including partition glass.
g) moves and resets furniture, when necessary, to complete work.
h) makes beds for residence guests in residence operations when necessary.
i) clean blackboards, whiteboards, and other writing surfaces as directed; replenish supplies as required.
j) replenishes paper towels, toilet paper, hand soap, and sanitizers to receptacles within washrooms and utility kitchens, and other areas as required.
k) changes light bulbs and cleans fixtures as required.
l) clears exterior entranceways of buildings of debris and garbage.
m) clean exterior entrance pads and podiums using power washing equipment.
n) assists in snow removal when necessary.
o) may periodically assist with set-ups for special events and exams.
p) clean escalators and elevator interior and exterior.
q) locks and unlocks doors as directed; and r) other related duties as required.

Required Job Skills/Quantification:

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Analyzing, recommending, and designing highly complex software architecture
    Developing and updating the architectural framework for highly complex and confidential university-wide applications
  • Developing and overseeing new system elements
  • Developing technical application implementation plans
  • Determining key performance indicators to measure success.
  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
  • Acting as an expert resource to developers on architecture, technical standards, and coding techniques
  • Analyzing and configuring highly complex enterprise applications and services

Essential Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer or software engineering, or an acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum eight years of development experience in a heterogeneous environment, with a broad range of platforms and technologies
  • Minimum three years of ServiceNow development and administration
  • Demonstrated leadership in architectural design in the ServiceNow platform.
  • Demonstrated leadership in the execution of digital transformation of critical business workflows.
  • Demonstrated leadership in the development of service request management workflows.
  • Demonstrated experience leading ServiceNow platform upgrades, including testing, validation, and change management.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating business analysts, clients, and other SMEs to build solutions.
  • Expert ServiceNow development and administration skills, across multiple product modules.
  • Strong product ownership background, road mapping, and backlog management.
  • Strong stakeholder management skill set, including project/portfolio governance.
  • Strong underpinning of tactical leadership experience, including leading regular meetings, and providing reports to committees.
  • Track record of consensus-building across a diverse range of groups and building strategic partnerships.
  • Track record of managing up, and managing out – coordinating teams, vendors, and stakeholders to achieve a vision.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and efficiently both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills to permit simultaneous action on many tasks, many of which will demand timely completion.
  • Strong project management and team leadership skills.
  • Strong commitment to high-quality service.
