Statement from the CEO & Board of Directors
It is with profound sorrow that we extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and loved ones affected by the tragic mass shooting in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia. We are heartbroken by the loss of life — including those so young — and our thoughts are with the survivors, the injured, and the entire Tumbler Ridge community as they begin the long process of healing.
This senseless act of violence has left a small community reeling and the entire nation in mourning. We join with Canadians from coast to coast in grief, shock, and solidarity. There are no words that can adequately express the pain felt by those who lost a family member, a friend, a teacher, a classmate.
To every parent, guardian, sibling and friend of those taken from us too soon:
We grieve with you.
To every survivor and every person injured:
We stand with you.
To the educators, first responders, health professionals and volunteers working tirelessly to care for the wounded and comfort the bereaved:
We thank you and support you.
At Tropicana Community Services, we believe in the power of community — to care, to comfort, and to hold one another up when faced with unimaginable tragedy. In moments like this, our shared humanity is essential. We condemn violence in all its forms and reaffirm our commitment to fostering safe, compassionate spaces where every child, family, and community can thrive without fear.
As a country, as communities, and as human beings, we must come together to support those who hurt most — not just today, but in the difficult weeks and months ahead.
May the memories of the lives lost be a blessing.
May peace, support, and healing grow from the care we show one another.
