Parenting together training
Parenting Together
Parenting/caregiving does not come with a manual and even the most resourceful parent/caregiver can experience seemingly insurmountable challenges when it comes to parenting. The Parenting Together program creates a space for parents/caregivers experiencing family conflict to engage with others as a means to increase their social connections while being introduced to information that can increase their knowledge, competency, and resiliency.
Through individual and group sessions, participants’ experiences are validated as they (1) receive instruction and assistance to identify and utilize positive social skills, (2) examine the nature of anger as it relates to values, behaviours, and impulse control, and (3) reflect on ethical dilemmas to determine healthy outcomes. Service includes:
- Individual counselling sessions to identify presenting challenges, resources, and desired outcomes.
- Group sessions to network with peers and receive instruction in solution-building strategies for topics including:
- Communication
- Conflict resolution
- Leadership
- Anger control
- Behaviour Management
From these solution-building activities, participants develop an implementation plan which identifies helpful versus harmful behaviours, forethought regarding the potential consequences of their actions while noting how they can remain goal oriented to incorporate their new skills into daily interaction. The registration fee is $300 (payment options can be arranged for those in need; no one will be denied service due to inability to pay).
