Solidarity message from the CEO

In Solidarity with Jamaica After Hurricane Melissa

In the wake of Hurricane Melissa, I extend my heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the people of Jamaica. This devastating storm—the strongest ever recorded to strike the island—has caused widespread destruction, flooding, and landslides, leaving many families displaced and communities in urgent need of support.

At Tropicana Community Services, we stand in unwavering solidarity with our extended Caribbean family during this difficult time. Jamaica’s recovery will require compassion, coordination, and collective action—and together, we can make a meaningful difference.

As part of our response, Tropicana is collecting non-perishable food, clothing, and other essential items to be shipped to Jamaica through one of our trusted partners. We encourage our community to contribute what they can to help families rebuild their lives.

For more information or to coordinate donations, please contact Nicole Johnson-Mighty at nicole@tropicanacommunity.org.

Additionally, the Government of Jamaica has launched an official relief platform where you can access their Preliminary National Needs List, report incidents, and make direct monetary or item donations to assist affected families. Please visit https://supportjamaica.gov.jm/ to learn more.

Together, let us demonstrate the strength of our community and our shared commitment to helping our Jamaican brothers and sisters rebuild—stronger and more united than ever.

With compassion and solidarity,

Daniel Anckle
