Toronto, ON – Tropicana Community Services is pleased to announce the successful recipients of the 2025-2026 4th Call for Proposals under the Supporting Black Canadian Communities Initiative (SBCCI). This milestone reflects continued progress in advancing the Initiative’s mandate to strengthen Black-led, Black-serving, and Black-focused organizations across Canada.
Following a rigorous and competitive selection process, 151 projects across 138 Black-led organizations have been selected to receive $5.6 million through this funding round. Successful recipients will benefit from targeted investments aimed at strengthening organizational capacity, supporting job creation, and expanding community-driven programs and services that respond to the diverse needs of Black communities nationwide.
“The Supporting Black Canadian Communities Initiative reflects a shared commitment to ensuring that Black Canadians have equitable access to the resources and opportunities needed to thrive. We extend our sincere thanks to the Government of Canada and Prime Minister Carney for their continued leadership and dedication to the long-term success and sustainability of Black-led organizations across the country.” – Daniel Anckle, Chief Executive Officer, Tropicana Community Services
Since its launch in 2019, SBCCI has provided over $110 million in critical funding, as well as tools and infrastructure support to Black-led, Black-serving, and Black-focused (B3) community-based organizations. This investment has enabled organizations to strengthen governance, expand service delivery, and build sustainable foundations for long-term impact.
This fourth call for proposals further reaffirms the Government of Canada’s ongoing commitment to fostering vibrant, resilient, and economically strong Black communities across the country
